BRIGHTON, NY - The GVO has obtained footage via Instagram that appears to show a handcuffed, pro-Israeli protestor in a profanity laden, racially supremacist, and homicidal rant.

In the video, the man has to be reminded to remain seated by a nearby police officer. The Pro-Israeli protestor seems to reference the Gaza death toll, claiming that "right now, we are one to 20, we took 40,000 of you m---f---" and pledges to make it "half a million." He also claims that there will "never be an Intifada again," while cursing frequently, calling off-camera protestors "bitches."

The middle-aged man, who is clearly a Pro-Israeli protestor, was one of two Pro-Israeli protestors arrested at the 16 February event. Arrested alongside the pair was pro-Palestinian protestor, Sofyan Jaber. It is likely that the man ranting is Assaf Ronen, who was charged with harassment and disorderly conduct and is 52 years old.

The other pro-Israeli arrestee Jacob Ronen is reported as a mere 18 years old.

The two Ronen's who live 25 miles away from Brighton in Shortsville, NY, were alleged to have thrown eggs at the Pro-Palestinian protestors from their vehicle. Jaber is claimed to have walked towards the vehicle and Jacob Ronen and Jaber began fist fighting. After that, the altercation was partially filmed by Rich Healey of Spectrum News. The men are promptly separated after falling to the ground. Healy also captures part of their arrest, and more of the older Ronen’s rant.

Brighton is well-known to be a strongly Jewish enclave within Monroe County. The protest was held near the Twelve Corners building. This location is adjacent to two Jewish schools as well as near a Chabad Lubavitch building.

Spectrum News in Rochester recorded a statement from the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester, which is also in Brighton:

"We certainly recognize and support both the freedom of speech and assembly. It is deeply disturbing that adults are choosing school dismissal times to intimidate our Jewish students and families. We understand from earlier in the week that language and signs used by the protestors was disturbing. The choice of time and place is clearly an act of antisemitism."

According to New York State's Hate Crimes statute, a person is guilty of a hate crime when they "intentionally [select] the person" they desire to target based on immutable characteristics, "regardless of whether the belief or perception is correct."

Harassment is considered an eligible charge under the statute.
